Pharmaceutical Laboratory

PHARMACEUTICAL CHEMISTRY LAB is meant for synthesis, purification, extraction, identification and qualification tests of organic, inorganic, herbs & medicinal compounds. It also includes various analytical parameters like titration, gravimetric and volumetric analysis and assay of compounds.
We have Central Instrumentation Lab to provide instrumentation facility to students and faculty, for conducting analytical, practical and research work. This laboratory is well equipped with necessary modern instrumental facilities such as:

PHARMACOGNOSY LAB is meant for identification, isolation, separation, purification, phytochemical screening and evaluation of medicinal plants and drugs by studying morphology and powder analysis. The lab is also suitable for organoleptic evaluation of crude and meant for extraction of active principles of crude drugs by various techniques. Students are able to learn how to use various techniques and sophisticated instruments for extraction of crude drugs. They are provided ample opportunities to perform various qualitative and quantitative evaluations of herbal drugs.
PHARMACEUTICAL MUSEUM: The Museum is organized in a manner where students would be in contact with all kinds of educative anatomical models, cosmeceuticals, pharmaceuticals and herbs.
HERBAL GARDEN: Garden at the institute is a place where various medicinal plants are grown for experimental purpose by the students at campus for the accomplishments of different projects related to herbal plants.

PHARMACEUTICS LABORATORIES help in training the students in drug formulations like tablets, capsules, parenterals, ointments, creams, eye drops, syrups, drug interaction, stability and shelf-life studies. The students are trained for different aspects of filling packing, sealing and labeling the drugs. Various practicals aspects of Pharmaceutics like Physical Pharmacy, Unit operation, Dispensing Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical, Technology & Biotechnology is taught to the students.
PHARMACEUTICAL MICROBIOLOGY:This lab provides the facilities to the students to study microorganisms, the process of sterilization, preparation of culture media both for static and broth cultures. This lab is attached with aseptic room as per GLP guidelines. The lab is suitable for the evaluation of antiseptics and disinfectants for the determination of phenol coefficient, microbial assay of vitamins and antibiotics.
MACHINE ROOM: This lab includes various machines and instruments used for production of various dosage forms. Students learn the actual production procedures and techniques of Pharmaceutical dosage forms.

Pharmacology is a branch which deals with the drug dose, route of administration, mechanism of action of drugs, adverse effects of drugs. It includes various subjects to inculcate students such as anatomy, Physiology & Pathophysiology and Pharmacology and Toxicology. The college also provided facilities to learn more about Anatomy and Pathology through models, charts, permanent slide and skeleton of animals. The computer lab is well equipped with software for the basic demonstration of Pharmacy experiments.
ANIMAL HOUSE:According to the requirements of CPCSEA, the animal house is available to facilitate learning of Pharmacological screening methods.
ICT Enabled Classrooms
Information and Communications Technology enabled classrooms with digitally literate teachers to communicate, create and disseminate information for an impactful learning of the students.
Auditorium with good acoustic system
A well-equipped auditorium with seating capacity for around 300 people serves as the venue for the regular conferences, workshops, seminars, parent teachers' meet, Intercollegiate cultural fests and recreational activities of the students. It is equipped with premium sound quality for voice and music, delivering crisp tones and clarity to sound to every member of the seated audience.
Library and Information Centre
Library is a media centre with learning environment for stimulating and enriching effects upon students. The library is fully automated and the collection is accessible online through the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) and the open stack access policy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Rules and Regulations
- One borrowers card will be issued to each student of 1st and 2nd year. They can borrow one book at a time for a week and for 3rd year students 2 card and they can borrow 2 books at a time for a week.
- Books can be borrowed only upon producing the valid borrower's Card
- The students who love reading are free to read and exchange books at any convenient time.
- Users should check the book thoroughly for missing pages,chapters etc. At the time of issue.
- Borrowers are responsible for returning books issued to them on or before due time.
- All the overdue books are fined at Rs 1/- per book per day.
- In case of loss of books,the borrowers are required to replace the book with a recent edition.
- Student must maintain silence and are free to read and refer any books.
- Journals, Magazine, Competitive books are available to read and note.
- Keep in the designated place after reading newspaper, journals, magazines and textbook.
- New arrivals are displayed in the library for student reference.
- ID card is compulsory to enter into library.
- Reference books,materials such as encyclopaedias,dictionaries,journals are not issued.
- Books from general collections are issued to all eligible members on weekend.

- Under these, maximum 3 books will be issued for a semester.
- Photocopy and Printing services for all staff and students. Library provides this service by reasonable cost Rs 1/- per page.
- Internet/Digital resources availbilty
- Every year during distribution of the borrowers ticket for 1st year students, rules/regulations/procedures of the Library will be informed and also literate them about the book and non-book materials.
Audio Visual Room
Audio visual room with laptop, projector with podium, and a public address system is well maintained for seminars, workshops, competitions, guest lectures and other activities.
Computer Lab
The college has two computer labs where certificate courses, video conferencing and placement training are conducted.
The following guidelines need to be followed by the students in the lab:
- Students must wear their ID card before entering the computer lab.
- Students should maintain absolute silence and decorum in the lab.
- Eating and/or drinking inside the computer lab are strictly prohibited.
- Internet facility is only for educational/ study purpose.
- Students should leave their footwear outside the lab in the space allotted.
- Log out and shut down of computers is mandatory before leaving the lab.
- The lab must be kept clean and tidy at all times.
- The furniture in the computer lab should be kept intact.
- No student is permitted to shift or interchange any part of the computer with another.
- The Lab must be usedonly for academic requirements.
- Each student must keep the mobile phone in "Switched Off" mode during the class.
- For any hardware or software problem, report to the system admin.
- Students are strictly prohibited from downloading objectionable materials.
- Students should follow the procedures prescribed for logging in and logging out.

- Personal programme files should not be installed in the computer for licensing and security reasons.
- Permission from system admin must be taken for the use of personal devices.
- Hacking (attempting to gain unauthorized access to secured content, violation of system policies, virus creation or propagation, etc.) is prohibited.
- Violation of Lab rules will necessitate serious disciplinary action.
Language Lab
Animals House at S.S.P. Pharmacy, Rasra, Ballia is well planned and spacious. The Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) has been framed which comprises of eminent scientist and veterinarian as per the requirements of CPCSEA. Separate Rooms for Mice is provided along with working area, store room & wash area at S.S.P. Pharmacy
Sports and Gymnasium
Sports activities release the pent up energy in the students. It helps the students to reach higher heights in academics and personal development. Skills like team- work, leadership, self-confidence, time management, ability of thinking in critical situations etc., will also be honed through sports. Variety of indoor and outdoor sports competitions is held for the students to develop interest in sports. Intercollegiate Throw ball Tournament is conducted every year in the campus. Students are provided with gymnasium facility for fitness.
Herbal Garden
Herbal garden is a place where students get exposure to various medicinal plants and get knowledge about their useful effects including their source, botanical names, cultivation techniques and their constituents etc.
S.S.P. Pharmacy, Rasra, Ballia has well maintained medicinal Herbal Garden with about fifty plants that are maintained properly. This helps the students to see and learn about the plants in their natural habitat. This provides plants material for conducting the practicals of B. Pharm & D. Pharm students.
Common Room
A Common Room facility is provided for the students to spend their leisure time. The students can utilise the room to take rest during health issues.
